1984 the doors opened as “Precision Alignment and Auto Repair” at 606 S. 9th St, a 3 bay unit not really designed as an auto repair facility. With little cash but a lot of desire, it was opened with a “failing is not an option” attitude. Quality work at a fair price allowed the shop to grow exponentially to the point of outgrowing the facility in just 18 months. Just across the corner a new building was being constructed at 510 W. Hwy 50 (our current address), they were looking for a renter and we were able to take the first unit, followed by AJ’s Upholstery in the unit B and Tracked Vehicles in unit C. During the next 5 years we continued our growth and when Tracked Vehicles vacated we took over 2 of the 3 units.
1991 Steve was able to purchase the property and started construction of a newPA91 addition to the front of the building for added showroom, waiting area and customer counter. Not long after, AJ’s moved to another location. The whole building was now dedicated to Auto Repair, Auto Sales and Tire Sales.
We progressed through the “90’s” as the place to take your car in the Gunnison area.
1999 we again focused on expanding 4 additional bays for car wash/detailing Pane-wand mechanical bays. We now had a staff of 5 Technicians, 2 Service Advisors, 2 Tire Technicians and General Service Technicians.
2000 Precision is awarded runner up for “Top Shop in Colorado” from AAA Colorado. Precision at that time was one of only two “AAA Approved Auto Repair” facilities in western Colorado.
2011 As we turn the corner on another decade we are striving to be the best we can be. We employed 4 Master technicians with a variety of specialties and 2 ASE Certified technicians worked toward their Master Certifications. Precision is proud of the ability of our technicians, they spend many hours each year on training to stay on top of the ever changing technology.
In 2016, we continue to innovate and keep up with auto industry standards. We joined forces with Auto Vitals to help our customers access their service records on any of the vehicles we have serviced,the technicians will take pictures of problem areas of the vehicle and the info can be sent to your email or text. Service advisors comunicate via ipads from technicians for a environmentally friendly paperless back shop. This technology means we can focus on the customer better and do our job with total transparancy.
